How the Indian stock market works
India’s two major stock exchanges — the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE — are regulated by SEBI. Benchmark indices like the NIFTY 50 and SENSEX track the performance of the largest companies and act as the pulse of the market.
Equity markets trade Monday to Friday from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM (pre-open from 9:00 AM). Trades settle on a T+1 basis, so shares and funds reach you the next working day.
