    Why commodities

Real assets that move differently from stocks

Commodities like gold, oil and cotton are the lifeblood of global trade. Because they react to supply, demand, weather, currency and geopolitics — not company earnings — they can balance an equity-heavy portfolio and act as a hedge against inflation.

    • Inflation hedge — gold and silver have historically held value when inflation rises.
    • Portfolio diversification — low correlation with equities and bonds.
    • Global demand — energy, metals and agri products are always needed.
    • Long trading hours — react to global news in the evening session.

6 essential commodities we track daily

Our desk publishes levels and outlooks on the most liquid contracts so you always know what is moving and why.

    Gold

The classic safe haven — driven by inflation, interest rates and USD strength. Highly liquid and globally trusted.

    Crude Oil

Powers industry and transport. Volatile, with strong trading opportunities shaped by geopolitics and OPEC+.

    Natural Gas

A cleaner energy source with seasonal demand swings — popular with active futures traders.

    Silver

Precious metal plus industrial demand from electronics and solar. More volatile than gold — ideal for active traders.

    Copper

The “economic health” metal — vital for EVs, construction and green tech, closely tied to global growth.

    Cotton & Agri

Backbone of the textile industry. Seasonal and weather-sensitive, rewarding well-timed trades.

    FAQs

    Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Our advisors are happy to explain anything — no jargon, no pressure.

Risk disclosure: Commodity derivatives are leveraged and volatile; losses can exceed your initial margin. Trade with stop-losses and only with risk capital.
    What is commodity trading?

It is the buying and selling of raw materials like metals, energy and agricultural goods — usually through futures or options contracts on exchanges such as MCX and NCDEX.

    What are the trading hours?

Non-agricultural commodities on MCX generally trade from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM (extended to 11:55 PM when US daylight saving ends). Agricultural commodities close earlier. Check exchange notices for exact timings.

Do I need to take physical delivery?

Not usually. Most contracts are cash-settled or squared off before expiry. A few contracts are compulsorily deliverable — your advisor will flag these so you can exit in time.

Can I trade with a small amount?

Yes. Mini and micro contracts (like Gold Petal, Gold Guinea, Silver Micro and Crude Mini) let you participate with lower margins.

    Is commodity trading risky?

Yes. Prices can be volatile and futures are leveraged. With research, position sizing and stop-losses, risk can be managed — but never eliminated.
